ANS 404 – Dairy Cattle Management
In ANS 404, my team conducted a comprehensive review of tail docking in dairy cattle, examining its historical origins, perceived benefits, animal welfare implications, and evolving legal regulations. We analyzed primary research on mastitis, somatic cell count, employee hygiene, and fly load data, comparing industry claims with empirical findings.
This project required synthesizing scientific literature and regulatory context to assess the practice within modern dairy systems. It provided a structured opportunity to evaluate how research informs industry standards and policy decisions in livestock production.
