About Me
Hi, I'm Nathan

Most importantly, I am a child of God. My faith shapes who I am and guides how I live. I love my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and try to use every opportunity He gives me to reflect His love to others. I’ve served as an AWANA leader since sixth grade at the church I grew up in, helping kids memorize Scripture and understand what it means to follow Christ. Being able to pour into younger students in that way has been very meaningful.

I’m also a son and a brother to three awesome siblings. At home, there are many animals — chickens, a frog, a blind turtle, two cats, and a black lab who has the most energy in the world. Music is another big part of who I am; in my free time I'm very likely jamming to music on the bluetooth speaker or playing guitar.

Academically and professionally, I’m an Animal Science (Science concentration) and Biological Sciences (MCD concentration) student at NC State. I’m incredibly grateful for the ways UHP has pushed and shaped me — encouraging involvement, hosting honors forums, offering courses in music and research that broadened my perspective, and creating space for thoughtful dialogue. Study abroad experiences helped me eperience various sides to working with animals, apart from what I'm used to, and the emphasis on stepping outside my comfort zone and pursuing high-impact experiences gave me the confidence to try new things. All the experiences didn’t just build my portfolio — they helped me grow into someone who genuinely enjoys the process and the journey along the way.

See my University Honors Program Senior Portfolio Reflection Essay to learn more about how my experiences have shaped me.
