My involvement in the Animal Science Club has grown from active membership into meaningful leadership. Serving first as Rewards Chair and later as Parliamentarian, I learned the importance of consistency, organization, and accountability — whether maintaining attendance records, coordinating reward systems, or ensuring meetings followed constitutional structure. These early roles strengthened my attention to detail and respect for organizational integrity.
As Junior and later Senior Activities Chair, I worked closely with fellow officers, species chairs, and advisors to coordinate major club initiatives including the NC State Fair Milk Booth, Ag Awareness Week, Club Day, Farm Animal Days, and our annual Awards Banquet. Rather than leading alone, my role required collaboration, long-term planning, and steady follow-through. Together, our team contributed to the most successful Milk Booth in club history, generating over $100,000 in revenue and engaging more than 100,000 visitors. I also supported additional fundraising efforts through merchandise coordination and partnerships with Howling Cow Creamery.
Organizing Club Day — our multi-species annual show involving dairy, beef, equine, swine, goats, and sheep — required careful coordination across committees and facilities. Through this experience, I learned that leadership is less about directing others and more about building trust, communicating clearly, and taking responsibility when challenges arise.
While these roles highlight my leadership growth, they were never accomplished independently. Behind every event organization, merch inventory check, or Howling Cow milk run, my family’s support was strong. Their encouragement and sacrifices created the stability that allowed me to step into these responsibilities with confidence.
